Information for my dear customers, from 8th. to 11th. I am away on business trip, the system will accept orders but the deliveries will restart upon my return.

We sell replacement mounts to use Leica-R lenses on Nikon cameras.

Welcome to Leitax, this is our Leica-Nikon page. After the encouraging response from our first Leitax bayonet clients and several requests from Nikon users, we can offer this new replacement bayonet to use two cams, three cams, R-cam  and ROM Leica-R lenses on Nikon bodies.

-This conversion is fully reversible and will not damage either the lens or the camera.
-The Leica-R lenses will focus to infinity and will maintain the aperture click stops
-The Nikon cameras will show a  focus confirmation light in the viewfinder.
-The professional Nikon cameras (D200 and up), and FujiFilm S5Pro, will meter in A and M modes (stop-down) the newer models can use Auto-Iso as well.
-Users of non professional Nikon cameras (D40, D60, D80, D90, etc) can select Manual mode and check the histogram of a test shot to meter accurately.

Some of the instructions you see on the left are for the Leica-Pentax bayonet. Just change the final step, installing the Leica for Nikon-F bayonet instead and you are ready to shoot with your Nikon or FujiFilm camera.

A few Leica-R lenses will not clear the mirror slapping movement  of any Nikon F-mount camera :

Super Angulon   21mm f:3.4
Summilux            35mm f:1.4
Fisheye-Elmarit  16mm f:2.8

As you can see at the Canon forums these lenses are the more problematic there as well.

Elmarit28 on Nikon F , no adapter This  lens can be used only on APS-sized sensor cameras because the rear glass would hit the Full Frame camera's mirror :

--Elmarit         24mm f:2.8

Finally, the following lenses can use the Leica-Nikon bayonet only after irreversible surgery, due to physical incompatibility :

--Leica lenses with one cam only .

As far as I know , all the rest of Leica-R three cam lenses will not have problems with the mirror clearance matter.
If you discover another problematic lens, please let me know.
Elmarit 100 on Nikon D700 , no adapter

- You can see pictures taken with Leica-R lenses with modern digital cameras at the Leitax group at Flickr.

- The  APO-Summicron 180/2 has a thicker R-cam that needs to be removed to use the Leica-Nikon mount.

- The Visoflex 14127 adapter (Visoflex lens to Leica Camera) can be converted with the Leitax bayonet.
- The Visoflex 14167 adapter needs the same special Leitax bayonet that the Telyt 400-560/6.8 lens.

- It is possible to use the current Elmarit 19/2.8 on Full Frame cameras just shaving a bit the rear end of the lens, please take a look at this lens instructions.

- It is possible to install the Leitax  bayonet on the Vario-Apo-Elmarit 70-180/2.8 ROM, because this lens is build the same way as the Leica ROM primes.

CAUTION!  A customer reports that the earlies (3624xxx) of the 3-cams Elmarit 28/2.8 current version units have a taller than usual rear end lens protection, and it will hit the mirror of Full Frame Nikon bodies. As you can see at the feedback page, a 366xxxx that is still a 3-cams unit is ok.  The ROM version
(s/n 3779xxx) has been tested on D3, and it works great.

-  I'm offering now a reversible custom conversion work for the Leica Zoom lenses with ROM contacts that are, in general, not suitable for direct bayonet replacement, please contact me for an estimate.
Of course, there is no problem with 3-cam Zoom lenses.

CAUTION!  The first Nikon DSLR cameras: D100, D70, D70s, D2Hs and D2Xs models, seem to have a slightly bigger mirror than the rest of APS-sized sensor cameras. Thus, the Leica Elmarit 24/2.8, that barely clears the mirror movement on crop cameras, will hit the mirror on these models.

- We can use the telephoto lenses Telyt 400 and 560/6.8 on Nikon cameras with a special Leitax bayonet,
but lenses newer than head number 2380541 can have different cams that will not be compatible with the Leitax mount. Please check your lens, has it  the same cam as in the instructions pictures?

- My Telyt 400/6.8 is now a 640mm with autofocus

-NEW! I can machine a special bayonet for the Apo-Summicron 180/2, to avoid removing its black internal tube.

Now you can order the Leica-Nikon bayonet here.
Please check how many screws has the Leica original bayonet of your lens to order the appropriate replacement.

-It covers the entire bayonet diameter, providing more protection against blows and scratches.

With certain models, we'll have to manipulate inside the lens, it's not a good place for something metallic. With this plastic tool I don't make any scratches in the Leica  lenses.
3 Euro

I use this model for all the Phillips screws in the Leica and Zeiss lenses, it is industrial grade quality made by Irazola, and the design is very good, you can push and turn it firmly with the rotary end and the rubber finish.

5 Euro

This one is for the small black screws at the Leica's lens rear shroud. Unfortunately, Irazola doesn't produce a size for the bayonet flat screws founded in older Leica lenses.
